Cyrano is a Singaporean aviation professional who is actively involved in aviation education, training & development within the aviation domains and beyond. He is an advocate of human approaches to safety & wellbeing, corporate crisis & consequence management, personal, professional & career development. He was named after the swashbuckling character from the film "Cyrano et d’Artagnan," reflecting his father's maverick spirit and unique choices in life. He loves sports and the outdoors.

With a decade of ground military experience, Cyrano transitioned to a flying career with Singapore Airlines accumulating substantial flight experience on various commercial aircrafts, including the Boeing 747. He was the co-pilot of Singapore Airlines Flight 006, which tragically crashed on 31 Oct 2000, and have since lived through its aftermath.

He is best known for his part in pivoting to educate young minds, not letting oneself be defined by the catastrophic accident, instead deciding to share his passion of aviation through academia, training, mentoring - to pioneer and foster a culture of mindfulness and peer support.

Cyrano has walked the journey from `surviving to winning’, been back flying commercially with AirAsia and now as independent consultant. He describes his journey as humbling and transformative, emphasizing the importance of human connections following such struggles, yet life-giving experiences.

Cyrano's story is not only one of healing and survival but also of resilience and dedication to educating future generations in aviation safety and management. His experiences continue to resonate within and beyond the aviation community as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of preparedness in crisis and trauma-impacted situations. Blending his experiences through mindfulness practices, Cyrano hopes to enhance competencies and wellbeing of aviation professionals to bring about greater vibrancy, harmony & safer skies.
